GRAVESIDESERVICE- Masters in Lunacy

Photobucket

This band is quite certainly, (or arguably... or both) responsible for some of the most stimulating, critically hated, abhorrently induced blog threads ever posted on the Encyclopaedia Metallum reviews page. From Cranston, Rhode Island this is Masters in Lunacy by GRAVESIDESERVICE. An album recorded in New England with gloaming soundscapes founded on a deranged concept. Masters in Lunacy bends our ear holes into new platforms of listening. An album that gets weird but still packs bite like a kick to the teeth. Even far more depressing than the fowl stench from a sense of false hope at a funeral. Plan on taking a shower after listening to these guys, this shit is full of awesome filth.

Darkwor- Foederati

Photobucket

Darkwor are a brutal black metal band based out of Worcester, Massachusetts. Definitely one of the best performances in New England today. This album is purely evil, mystic and fowl like dried menstrual blood stains on a pew. Some really good war metal beats and blasts on this one. Currently unsigned but I have a feeling not for long. A disgusting gem of darkness!

Xasthur- Portal of Sorrow

Photobucket

I don't foresee any better albums being released this year, and it's supposedly the last one Scott's doing under the name Xasthur. PORTAL OF SORROW IS TRULY SOME EXTREMELY COLD, DEPRESSIVE UNHOLY SHIT!!!! Its guaranteed to furnish that bone-tingling feeling you get after taking a piss you've held back for way, way too fucking long. Certain tracks like number three, shrine of failure, remind me of gravesideservice. Removing the focus from guitars, such a primary element of black metal, really changes the way we as audience listen to the songs we're hearing on Portal of Sorrow. A truly well executed, nonconventional concept. I especially dig the bizarre album artwork. Download it, lock yourself in your bedroom, and embrace the loneliest week of your life.

Sadistik Exekution- The Magus

Photobucket

Transneobathasaurkaldelusions Of The Unknown 01:182. The Magus 04:043. Agonizing the Dead 03:144. Sadistikly Exekuted 05:525. Cautness Darling Blood 04:006. Possessed Haemorrhage 04:327. Lupercalia 03:268. Spirits are Komming 04:419. I'll Kill You Bastard 04:13

Hard, blackened death metal from Australia. The Magus is harsh and chaotic, Sedistik Exekution drops bombs of devastating violence with a unique madness of originality. It was recorded back in 1986 but not released by Vampire Records until the early 90's. Created way fucking ahead of its time. Nasty production with tons of analog grit. The Magus is a truly fucking brutal masterpiece.

Gasmask Terror at KØPI, Berlin

Gasmask Terror, a punk shit storm of d-beat tornadoes from Frankreich. I love these guys. This is just a couple seconds of raw live footage from a show I was lucky enough to catch at KØPI while in Germany. Check out the rage induced frontman wrecking the place down, even with his right hand to shoulder bound across his chest in an arm sling. I also included my personal favorite Gasmask Terror demo, released in 2004. (I felt guilty for taking this clip at KØPI, but it was just something I never wanted to forget.)

Frontier- Demo 2010

Photobucket

New England Black Metal from Western Massachusetts. Hailing from Holyoke. This three piece is called Frontier. "Desecrate the all, destroy all untold. Decompose and be forgotten. Your hatred spawned, in callous cold. An unfelt edge, rid of good... In grief and anger, rotting in space. Exiled from time, in hate. Defiantly resist as disrobed. Without voice, to defend a grave." Lyrics about the detestation of technology, the westernized world and a post-modern existence. Composed with a profound hatred for colonization and a bottomless disgust for the absence of civility toward natives in the continent of North America. This is the first demo release by Frontier from the Berkshires. Expect more in the near future, we are planning to do a full length.

Godless-Church Arsonist

Photobucket

Godless fucking rule the earth. Their album Church Arsonist is a stampeding assault of militant anti Judeo-Christian abhorrence. This horde of three from Puerto Rico uses torturous yells and screaming cries, reminiscent of vocals from pre-Filosofem Burzum. Godless are a menace of truly divulging hatred soaked in negative emotion. From the first time I laid eyes on it the cover and layout left me asking, "what the fuck!?" Iron crosses, inverted crucifixes and churches ablaze! The album's also got some staggering soundscapes, classical guitar leads and parts with batty sounding cello leads that make me feel like I'm in Cabbage Town, Georgia stuck in some fuckin night terror of a blackened apocalyptic acid trip. Church Arsonist is the last full-length the trio put out. Released in 2006 by Rusty Axe from VA, I strongly recommend it to everyone.

Desolate Wind- Here, In The Infernal War

Photobucket

Desolate Wind. The beginning of a tale, told by the force of two scum fucks from Warwick, Rhode Island. The original project of co-founders Lung Kancer and Storm Wielder of Eat Shit! Records. For now, just one track called, "Here, In The Infernal War." From their 2010 Demo release entitled, "Tasting Death In The Air Of Arctic, A Cold and Frozen Breath." It was recorded in a garage. We made 100 copies on tape cassette. More posts soon to follow.
